Holiday gift guide

Tis the season to adorn, nourish, dream, nurture and create the life you love. But I guess every season should be about this. Here is a little gift guide I put together imagining having a tarot reading over coffee leaving lipstick on the cup as I get ready to prepare a nourishing meal in my pretty necklace and cozy slippers.

1. Chemex classic 8 cup coffee maker makes a mean cup of coffee.// 2. I feel like it is time to start dressing up my lips in some of this yummy Tarte lipstick // 3. Lovelight jewelry's infinite love necklace is a reminder of our connection to earth and self.  // 4.  Nourishing meals  cookbook is one I will pass down to my daughter // 5. The Wild Unknown tarot deck is filled with magic and mystery. // 6. These slippers look so cozy. // 7. This boho spice rack is so adorable!

Happy gifting!

Whiskey Chai recipe

The chill is on! I can feel it in my bones. It is time to hunker down, get cozy by the fire and warm the body from the inside out.
This time of year I crave being home, crafting, baking and making warming goodies.
I love making chai especially this time of year and adding a bit of warming whiskey makes the cold nights so delicious.

Chai

2 Tbls. chopped ginger
1 Tbls. cardamon pods
1 tsp. cloves
1+ tsp. black pepper
3 anise stars
2-3 cinnamon sticks
3-5 Tbls. black or Rooibos
6-8 C water

Grind spices in a mortar and pestle.

Heat dry spices on med. heat for 30 sec.

Add water, let boil and the reduce heat for 30 to 40 min. on low-med heat. Add in tea for the last 5 min. Then strain.

Add a 1/4 C of Chai concentrate to about 8 oz. warm water then add sweetener, milk,  an ounce of Whiskey, a cinnamon stick and enjoy!

The road to Taos

When my husband and I decided to leave the mountains of Taos, NM and return to the city of Seattle It was difficult in many ways but it was time for a change. Taos has a strange mystical magic that is difficult to explain but when you talk to anyone who lives there or has lived there they will say the same. It was intense. We were tested and pushed to the point of recklessness and surrender only to learn more about ourselves and see our potential in a whole new light. It is the land of enchantment after all.
We recently returned there after 10 years and the power is immediate and the magic is present in the most beautiful way. I will always have a special place in my heart for New Mexico and will always be grateful for the time I spent there.

Just like I remember, bullet holes and everything.

Sagebrush and sky.

A wall hanging decorated by our friend Robert with findings from the surrounding mountains.

More of his found treasures.

I will always remember your magic and be inspired by your light.

Set your life on Fire

I love this quote... We all have passion and fire within us but those we surround ourselves with can effect how hot the fire burns..... Don't ever let anyone put out your fire.

Anthropologie inspired butterfly art DIY

When I need some inspiration for a DIY, there is no better place to go than Anthropologie. The minute I step inside I am surrounded with amazingly beautiful smells, colors, textures and inspiration! My last visit inspired all sorts of ideas.
These gorgeous butterfly's that were hanging on the wall all clustered together got me so excited! So I decided to make my own.

Here is a list of what you will need....

*2 kinds of fabric {I used a thicker upholstery fabric and a cotton fabric}
*paint {I used yellow and tan to create a bit of texture}
*scissors
*embroidery thread {the same color as the fabric you will use for the body}
*a paint brush and or sponge
*round nose pliers
*wire cutters
*wire {copper, or brass works great}
*a frame with cardboard insert or cardboard cut to fit
*paper cut to fit the cardboard, or you could paint right on the cardboard
*modge podge {not pictured, afterthought}
*glue gun

 First you want to paint your paper....

 Once dry you want to attach this to your cardboard backing with modge podge, covering the back and                           and the front...

While that is drying you can start cutting out your fabric pieces....

I just folded the fabric in half and cut a wing shape....

Then once you open up your fabric you should have two equal sized wings!...

Then you want to roll up your cotton fabric for the butterfly body.. I rolled mine up like a burrito until it had a shape somewhat like a butterfly...

Then once you have a shape you are happy with, wrap around it with your embroidery thread.

Then add your wire.. I bent mine in half and cut to size. Then put through the back side of the body under the embroidery thread...

Then use your needle nose pliers to curl the ends...

Then you are ready to glue it all together!!!....

Now put it in your frame and you are done!!!

Here it is on my wall.
